Permanent makeup is a cosmetic technique which employs tattoos (permanent pigmentation of the dermis) as a means of producing designs that resemble makeup, such as eye lining and other permanent enhancing colors to the skin of the face, lips, and eyelids.Permanent, really only means about 5 to 10 years, when referring to permanent makeup I have decided. My first experience with permanent makeup happened about 5 years ago in Orem, where I had rented a small home, while I was deciding where to live in Utah. A friend of a friend’s daughter was graduating from cosmetology school and needed to show her technique regarding permanent makeup to graduate.
Before you assume the best, I was her practice, not her final exam. We set up the kitchen table with pillow and blanket and we began...She was very good, but it hurt like heck! So I crawled off of the table and decided that I had to take an over the counter pain reliever to endure the slight discomfort.
Ahh, that was much better...a little braver now, I climbed back up and we started again. Holy Crap that hurt! “Give me just another second” I got down off of the table again, and tried a different pain reliever. At this point, I was regretting not being a drinker. I got back up and braved it through the rest of my first eye.
Then, there is always eye #2, never a big one for eyeliner; even I knew that it would be stupid to walk around with only one eye finished. So onto the left eye...Gheez, how could it hurt worse than the first one? I again got off of the table and this time dug into my dresser drawer, there had to be something left over from my hand surgery.
After taking my next installment, I staggered back to the table and we finished. I got off of the table and reassured Kaylene, who had been waiting and watching that it wasn’t that bad. I think this is the same lie that we tell to those wanting to get pregnant. “The pain of delivery is nothing, real women do it without drugs.” Truth of the matter is that you want everyone else to hurt as much as you did.
Why this whole blog on Permanent eye makeup? Mine has started to fade...alas, It has to be touched up, and I have an appointment tonight. I have decided to start taking pain killers now, and maybe by 6 tonight I will have to be wheeled in and really won’t feel a thing. I will let you know.
