Friends and Digital Cameras

I love digital cameras...I just am not so good at finding the right cords to connect to the computer to download the pictures. I consider myself to be a resonably smart woman, I can do many amazing things, however, when it comes to cords and drivers, I am lost.

I still marvel how I can scan a piece of paper here in Utah, send it through the airwaves to Washington, who then sends it to California, and they all see the paper I am holding in my hand. To make things worse, I used to be able to kind of understand the whole technology thing of things going through the telephone wire. BUT, I have Satellite internet connection, yes, that means there are no telephone wires. The image must be "beamed up" like Mr. Spock and Capt. Kirk on the Enterprise.

I pretend to understand HTML coding and do, to a small extent, I even have figured out this whole blog thing. (didn't want to admit for a long time, I had no idea of what a Blog was) I even have my own FaceBook account. Okay, so Kaylene set the account up for me, but I know how to check it now.

Speaking of FaceBook. I resisted for a long time. There was no one there that I would want to connect with, then after being forced into it, I found friends and friends have found me from Washington, Oregon, California, New York, etc, England, Ireland, Sweden, Italy and even a friend from my childhood that still remembered me!

I have at times forgotten that there are those out there that have shaped my life. The first love of my Life (Marc sent kind unsolicited words), A best friend from Jr. High (Rick) , friends from my mission (Thank-you Jeff) , friends that I raised my children with (Encinitas Ward) , even friends right here in my own neighborhood.

Yes, my life has been kind of like my digital Camera...all of the pictures are in there somewhere, I just forget sometimes where the cord is to download them.

General Conference

Growing up I remember dreading and looking forward to General Conference. Twice a year, we watch church on TV. Dreaded it because, we had to sit quietly and watch conference, not really understanding, just knowing that it was expected of us. Looking forward to it because as a child, church on TV was still better than getting dressed and going to Church.

Now life has changed, we do put away childish things as we mature. I find myself anxiously awaitng the next installment of Conference. The opportunity to be taught by Prophets and Apostles. I find myself let down by the end of the week-end, because it is over.

This year has been no different, I pick and choose my favorite talks, knowing full well that I will re-read all the talks numerous times between now and October.

Today, there was a knock at my front door inbetween morning and afternoon sessions of conference. One of the young women from my ward left me a plate of cookies, thanking me. This is what Sunday conference is supposed to be like, hearing a Prophet speak, feeling the spirit, and feeling love from those around you.

Where would I rather be at this point in my life? Right here! I love my neighborhood, my ward, and my home. I even love living in Utah! I love friends that drop by and stay and talk until 2:30 in the morning. Could life be better for me? Of course! Would I rather have other blessings in my life? Of course! Would I exchange the life I have with anyone else? Never!

General Conference reminds me how to be a better woman, mother, grandmother and friend. I love the feelings it reminds me of. I love hearing and seeing our blessed Prophet and knowing he is aware of who I am.

"Life is hard,..compared to What?"

This morning I awoke with the thought that it is time to re-face the world. What better way than through quotes?

One of my all time favorites is, "Don't worry about life, you're not going to survive it anyway." Ain't that the truth! Before everyone gets all worried thinking I am dying or something, just not the case. Spring is always the time I re-evaluate where I am and where I am suppose to be going.

You will notice that my blogs stopped abruptly around Thanksgiving, as I get older I realize that the life I have planned in my mind isn't always the life handed to me. The last 5 months have been a refiners fire for many in my family, (no need to keep looking to find the juicy gossip, there is none). My emotional heart was broken and I am slowly, but surely trying to put it back together. (No, there isn't some secret love that I neglected to share). "One day at a time--this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering."

"Life is the art of drawing without an eraser." This is my new goal in life! I will continue to make mistakes, I will continue to believe in others, I will continue to do what I think is right. I will however wake up each morning thinking, "Life is too important to be taken seriously!"

I love too easily and love too deeply and love those who others constantly ask why? My biggest flaw in life. I love unconditionaly.

"Remember to be gentle with yourself and others. We are all children of chance and none can say why some fields will blossom while others lay brown beneath the August sun. Care for those around you. Look past your differences. Their dreams are no less than yours, their choices no more easily made. And give , give in any way you can, of what ever you posses. To give is to love, to withhold is to wither. Care less for your harvest than for how it is shared and your life will have meaning and your heart will have peace."
